New Guinea Gold Corporation, operator of the Sinivit Mine in East New Britain Province, has responded to claims that it was to blame for damages to the local environment as a result of mining activities.
This issue of Sinivit Mine had been raised in parliament, with Environment and Conservation Minister, John Pundari, saying the company would be banned from the country.
New Guinea Gold Board Chairman, Ces Iewago, spoke exclusively to EMTV, outlining the reasons surrounding its Sinivit Mine operations.
According to Iewago, a National Court Order has prevented the company from conducting any activities, which unfortunately has ultimately led to the mine site being vandalised.
This in turn led to the environmental damage concerns.
