New Erima Primary welcomes its first e-Classroom

By Patricia Keamo, EMTV Cadet Journalist – Student, Port Moresby

New Erima Primary School i Port Moresby today welcomed its first electronic classroom. The e-classroom program is an initiate of the National Capital District Governor, Powes Parkop.

The electronic classroom contains 21 laptops, a projector and a printer. The laptops were programmed and installed by Dove Electronics.

Governor Parkop said the use of laptops and ICT is to ensure an effective learning for both the teachers and the students.

Five more primary schools in NCD are targeted for similar e-classrooms in the near future.

Governor Parkop says within the next 5 years, his aim is for all primary schools in the nation’s capital to have electronic classrooms.
Whilst the construction of the e-classroom is a welcome addition, there are concerns that the school may need more classrooms to cater for increased class sizes – something which the NCD Governor has committed to look into.
