A new chairman has been elected for the YanderaLandowners Association inthe Madang Province.
Mark Kama was elected Chairman, and he will lead this legal body of landowner representation, in negotiations of MoA’s and ther agreements in relation tothe development ofthe Yandera Project.
The election was held last week bythe Electoral Commission’s Madang Beanch, supported bythe Mineral Resources Authority, andthe Madang Provincial Government.
The Mineral Resources Authority commendedthe landowners of Yandera Project for successfully electingtheir association executives last week at Yandera Village.
The elections also filled ther executive positions. The position of Deputy Chairman went to Pastor Alois Beka, Secretary was Pastor Philip Yombai, Treasurer – Joseph Yagama, and Public Affairs Officer Raphael Maminaka.
New Chairman Mr Kama said his committee was in consultation with Marengo Mining,the Government and ther stakeholders, to develop work plans to developthe project.
Marengo Mining’s Community Affairs Manager Richard Beia said Marengo Mining would work withthe association executives and its members to progress each ther’s interest andthe project as a whole.
Acting Managing Director for MRA Philip Samar saidthe Government throughthe MRA was happy that landowners would now have a voice to deal with matters relating totheir interests as stakeholders ofthe Yandera Project.
The MRA also facilitatedthe election of executives for the Sinivit Mining ProjectLandowners association last week.
