Air Niugini has an additional cargo terminal in Port Moresby built to cater for increased air cargo.
Domestic andInternational cargo will now be handled separately and more efficiently.
Next tothe old cargo terminal One that catered for bothInternational and domestic cargo door isthe new air cargo wing catering for domestic cargo.
It’s been created for ease of access.
This side ofthe terminal is a restricted area only work men allowed. Cargo here is ready to be delivered to its respective destination.
At least an average of forty tonnes of cargo is transported daily, ether onthe commercial flights or special cargo planes, like this one.
There are even chillier rooms, for perishable goods like vegetables, fish or medicine.
The cargoes are packed in compartments while for goods classiflied as dangerous are kept in this yellow container. They remainthere for twenty four hours before giventhe final clearance.
The Acting CEO of Air Niugini saysthe additional cargo terminal is part oftheir expansion program.
