The Kaugere Rabia Amateur Basketball Association is a new basketball association, formed early this year.
Association President, Anna Mope, says their main concern, is to encourage discipline and behavior change in youths, through Basketball.
The association was registered for the first time with Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea, early this year.
The Association President said with the Kaugere settlement renowned for its lawlessness, the association aims to host games to keep youths away from trouble.
She said, before the association was registered, they hosted school holiday games, to keep students safe in the community during the holiday.
Moresby South MP, Justin Tkatchenko, has sponsored the association with K20 000 to host its competition.
The association has gone into its proper season matches, with ten teams participating in the competition. Nine of the 10 participating teams come from the Kaugere area, and one team is from Koki.
