Ten women’s teams took part in today’s round six matches, in both senior and junior divisions.
The matches from today were used to identify potential and best players that will go into training in the next couple of months in preparation for the upcoming PNG Games, in November.
Today’s hockey competition saw some great action on the hockey turf in Port Moresby as ten women’s teams played head to head, in an aggressive yet competitive match against each other, while shattering each other’s opponent on the turf. All ten teams, played confidently showing some great passes and aiming for goals against their opponents.
The first game on the turf today saw Golden Eagles play against MVP, where Golden Eagles trashed MVP, five goals to nil.
The second game between Global and Seagulls saw Seagulls defeat Global, one goal to nil.
The third and fierce match between Rapatona and United, saw both teams defend their sides strongly, showing great ball movements to and from each side, but Rapatona were the first to secure a goal at half time.
At full time, Rapatona proved to be the strongest after securing their second goal nearing full time, leaving United Reds vulnerable with one goal to two.
Immediately after today’s matches, the final women’s teams was announced, and the list will be given to NCDC Sports Desk for the final selections, for the PNG Games in West New Britain Province, in November.
