Naru trains with Morobe Team at Igam and challenges Parkop

By Bethanie Harriman – EM TV, Lae

Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru, today spent the morning in training with Team Morobe at Lae’s Igam Barracks.

Governor Naru has made it his personal responsibility to ensure that Team Morobe wins Gold in all its sporting codes.

Today, he began his day meeting the Morobe Volleyball team. Inspecting their firepower with Igam Barracks Area commander, Peter Aimos.

Kelly Naru, a former lock for the Kone tigers, stopped over at the Morobe sevens team and ran a drill; Naru played fly half.

He also visited the boxing team, where team remembers taught him some moves and later a group photo.

It follows the Morobe Provincial Administration continuous support to team Morobe. But, Naru feels he needs to see the preparation in person.

Team Morobe has been camping at the Igam Army barracks, under the watchful eyes of Area Commander, Peter Aimos.

“Military rules apply, the mess is well equipped and the kitchen help keeps over 400 athletes fed,” says Commander Aimos.

But, the rivalry between Morobe Governor Kelly Naru and NCD Governor, Powes Parkop, continues, and Naru says he isn’t backing down from a challenge. He has another challenge for Parkop.

“For the Unity walk he needs to wake up meet me at 4 a.m., if he comes at six, I would have finished and be sitting in church singing Hallelujah,” says Governor Naru.
