Belden Namah has confirmed that he is aware of arms smuggling across the PNG-Indonesian border.
He denied knowledge of reports about arms buildup in Sandaun province however; he said reports of arms smuggling has reached him.
He said there is not much monitoring by concerned authorities therefore there is an advantage for smugglers to bring in firearms illegally.
He said this has always been a concern and he has been vocal about this issue on the floor of parliament. Namah’said this is an ongoing issue that needs to be looked at.
