Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill has signed a Memorandum of Understanding withthe Queensland Government to draw experience and expertise from Queensland in service provision.
The signing was atthe Grand Papua Hotel in Port Moresby on Tuesday.
PM :’Neil told Queensland Premier, Campbell Newman and his visiting delegate thaPNG’s greatest need was in capacity building and technical assistance inthe public service.
Whilethe MOU will be for business co-operation it will also allow exploration of a wide range of government to government cooperation.
ther areas of assistance he pointed out were in transportoworks and civil aviation, education and health. The need for assistance in addressing Law and Order issues in PNG was also brought up.
Mr Newman’s response was to have police exchange programs betweenthe two governments.
The MOU is not aid related, meaning thatthPNG Government will meetthe cost of it.
