There are better days ahead for the people of Moresby South Electorate withthe launch of its five year development plan yesterday.
Forthe past five years,the electorate has seen little development due to adhoc planning.
This plan now sets a roadmap to addressthe most critical development needs ofthe electorate and to improver living standards.
Years of neglect have left most of its infrastructures in a dire state. Bet progress has been made to restore vital road infrastructures, including health and education.
Current Moresby South member, Justin Tkatchenko, has initiatedthe first ever five year development plan, 2013 to 2017 to drivethe development needs ofthe electorate.
The plan was launched in Kaugere Port Moresby yesterday, withnessed bythe Finance Minister James Marape, Health Minister Michael Malabag and NCD Governor Powes Parkop.
The plan is in line withthe national government’s initiative of decentralizing services to subnational levels.
Fifty-million kina was allocated to all districts for development and service delivery, and Moresby South will benefit through its development plan.
Finance Minister James Marape called on all districts to submittheir development plans to accessthese funds.
Mr. Marape warned contractors who fail to deliver using government funds, thatthey will be held liable.
