A call has been made to interested bowlers, to form the Moresby team, to compete in the PNG Games.
Defense Bowling Club, Vice President Jerry Kusa says: “there’s a bright future and more players are needed to represent the code in future, local and international sporting events.”
Friendly matches were held yesterday at Murray Barracks in the Nation’s Capital, as semi and professional bowlers showed their playing tactics.
The bowlers played playing in male, female and mixed divisions.
But the main concern is on young and aspiring bowlers, to represent the code in future local and international sporting events.
Mr Kusa says coaching clinics for youths will be conducted for potential athletes.
Youths have been invited to attend the games on weekends and give a try.
Kusa said the code must be established well, not only in Port Moresby, but also other provinces around the country.
This is to carry on the legacy of bowling heroes like Geua Tau, who won the first gold medal for PNG in the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland New Zealand.
