Naru Suspends Bihoro

Morobe governor, Kelly Naru, had suspended Morobe’s education advisor, Murika Bihoro on various counts of maladministration.

Mr. Bihoro will be sidelined, whilst investigations are carried out.

His suspension comes amongst a series of issues that he had failed to address whilst serving as the provincial education advisor.

On numerous occasions, Governor Kelly Naru had issued strong warnings to public servants serving in the province, that those who don’t perform to the interest of the Morobe people, will be sacked from office.

That may have been the case last Friday when he publically announced the suspension of Murika Bihoro as the education advisor for Morobe Province.

Governor Naru suspended Mr. Bihoro on several counts of incompetency.

“As a result of that, the Provincial Program Advisor is suspended,” Governor Naru said.

In the last 12 months, Morobe province has been battling against addressing its’ education issues.

Amongst them, the ongoing school fights, outstanding teachers’ end of year travel arrangements and most recently, the alarming drop in the number of grade 12 students selected to tertiary institutions.

Numerous attempts to address these problems in recent months have turned out to be an embarrassment for the Morobe Provincial government.

“If we have mismanaged the education sector in the province, and put the education of our future generations at stake, then those responsible must be held responsible,” Naru said.

This also comes amidst the Governor’s call that, public servants who failed to perform their duties to expectation, will be terminated from work.

And that his action is not confined to the education sector alone. He says other public servants too have to be conscious of their performance, and, officers who fail to perform exceptionally well, will be on that list to go.
