The Moitaka Ridge Community at 9 Mile outside of Port Moresby has received two vehicles from their local MP’s office.
Member for Moresby North East, Labi Amaiu, said this would ease transportation problems in the area.
Kiki Rocks Goroka and Simbu Community of Moitaka Ridge welcomed the envoy with traditional songs.
The newly purchased vehicle donated by the member’s office was an early gift for the people living along the Moitaka Ridge.
Community Chairman, Dickson Kavuso, on behalf of the Goroka Kiki Rocks community thanked their local MP for his great support in recognising their needs.
They said over the years they have been acquainted with the difficulty of transporting sick people to the hospital and mothers to Gordon’s Market. This vehicle will ease their transport problems.
Upon presentation of the vehicle, Amaiu said this donation is part of their benefits under the District Service Improvement Program.
While handing over the key to mothers, Amaiu urged them to take ownership by looking after this government asset.
The other vehicle was donated to the Maramuni Community during a separate occasion.
