Mioks In Form

A new cluster of young players in the Enga Mioks Rugby club have boosted the team’s performance in this year’s Digicel cup competition.

The team has performed exceptionally well in the past 16 rounds of the Digicel cup, placing them in the second spot on the competition ladder.

The Lae based Engan team has high hopes of making it into the finals.

In the last three weeks, the Engan franchise has greatly improved in their performance, with the team now sitting on the second spot.

The new bulk of Mioks players have been the momentum behind the success so far this season.

Elvis Loko, Michael Gawi and Charlie Simon are just some of the younger Mioks players, who were behind the team’s campaign.

Elvis, the younger sibling of Kumuls and PNG Hunters forward David Loko, is one of the new kids on the block.

Loko played for the Mendi Muruks in 2013, and was scouted during the Ipatas Cup Competition this year, to play for the Mioks.

Based in Lae this season, the Engan flag carrier team have been using the state of the art training facilities, which has been a bonus for the team every week, as it provides a part way for rural based players to build their ways through, to a professional carrier in rugby league.

The Mioks are no strangers in the Digicel Cup Competition, been among the top four since entering the competition, they are also working towards making it into the finals.
