The newly appointed Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Nixon Duban, officially took his new office yesterday.
The Minister had a brief meeting with Transport Secretary, Roy Mumu, and announced he will carry on what has been left behind by the previous Minister.
Minister Duban announced that major policy matters within the transport sector would continue to be implemented.
He stressed that the regulatory body of the sea, land and air sectors will continue their core functions while the Road Safety Council will see the road transport act create its new board to control the council.
The Minister assured the department’s partners and donors that the office will continue to work with them to ensure the transport and infrastructure department fully implements its government’s initiatives.
Minister Duban is one of the six ministers that were recently reshuffled by Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill.
