With plan to develop the New Zealand Defence Force’s capability to work alongside other militaries in the Pacific, a fully funded six-week military exercise has taken place in the northern part of the Cook Islands.
The military exercise has gathered military engineers from New Zealand, Britain, the United States and China. The engineers joined a 60 strong Exercise Tropic Twilight Team, working on a series of infrastructure projects in Penrhyn and Manihiki.
The aim of the military exercise was to develop the New Zealand Defence Force capabilities to provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to affected Pacific islands in times of disaster.
It was a first for many who were involved with the training, and those who took part look forward to seeing the results of their work. g in this military exercise.
The six-week military exercise has enforced a very important partnership in the Pacific region in delivering humanitarian assistance and disaster relief to those that are affected by natural disasters.
The exercise was funded by the New Zealand government at a cost of US $670,000.
