The management of the Wafi-Golpu Sub Health Centre has been transferred to the Mumeng LLG authorities.
The health centre has been managed by Morobe Mining’s Wafi-Golpu Medical team for the past 12 years.
The facility will now be managed by the Bulolo District Health services.
Speaking on behalf of Bulolo District Health, Jack Elau thanked Morobe Mining for providing much needed health services to the surrounding communities.
He said this has seen a decline in the number of cases for common diseases like Malaria, Pneumonia, Diarrhoea, Tuberculosis including the reduction of mortality rates and related complications.
Health officers from Bulolo District Health Services and Mumeng Health Centre will rotate on a two-week basis to serve locals.
Morobe Mining will continue to strengthen relationships with both the Provincial and District Health services to serve the communities and achieve the required health and well-being outcomes,” he said.
Morobe Mining’s Community Health Supervisor, Somatha Jabba, said the clinic served a majority of landowner communities and neighbouring villages as well.
