Malaysian Woman Arrested for Overstaying visa and possession of contraband

A Malaysian woman has been released on a K10,000 police bail, after she was charged for being in Papua New Guinea illegally.

The 34-year-old was arrested over the weekend by Port Moresby police after Immigration officers found that her visa had expired.

But what’s more interesting, was the illegal items and unidentified drugs found in her possession.

The Malaysian national was identified as, Anita Siong, and has been residing illegally in the country y for over a year.

The woman was apprehended after police monitored her for over six months.

The Australian Federal Police will be assisting the investigators to test the unidentified drugs before further charges will be laid against the woman.

The K10,000 police bail was given on the understanding that she would be brought back to the station for additional charges.
