PNG Rugby Football League Chairman, Sandis Tsaka, has recently returned from the RLIF Annual General Meeting, in the United Kingdom.
He was there to discuss international rugby league agenda and to formally sign the participation of the Kumuls and the Raggianas in the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.
Tsaka said, the team Kumul program is currently being run by Head Coach Michael Marum who has been running camps in the four regions of the country.
There will be 3 lead-up matches to the world cup.
PNG will play their first match in May when they face Tonga during the Pacific Test.
Than they play the Australian PM’s 13 team.
Their last match will be against France at the National Football Stadium in October.
As for the Raggianas, under the leadership of Michael Marum, he will be working towards identifying a senior coach that has worked with the women’s team.
PNGRFL has liaised with Queensland Rugby League to attend the Queensland State Rugby League Championship to give the team the international experience needed.
Over to the Hunters, due to the FIFA under 20 Women’s World Cup, their training camps have been delayed by 4 weeks.
There are plans of building a Hunters village.
