Lae Biscuit Company Expanding to Pacific

By Quinton Alomp – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Lae Biscuit Company Limited is dedicated to its social obligations while it continues to look at areas to expand its markets.

The company is looking forward to expanding into neighbouring Pacific countries as soon as next year.

Its famous biscuit brand, Snax, is getting favourable response from Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

Sales Area Manager-Southern Region, Andrew Bayak, said the company has plans to increase exports to Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and open new markets in Fiji.

“The responses we receive from these countries are very good.”

“We may start export to these countries and other Pacific Islands by next year and after,” Mr Bayak said.

The expansion of its products comes after the successful staging of the Melanesian Spearhead Group meeting in Port Moresby.

But the company is still having difficulties trading with Indonesia’s West Papuans.

Today the company presented a K5,000 and K10,000 worth of biscuits and merchandise to the Motu Koitabu Assembly for organising the mini Hiri Moale festival.

PNG made products are of the best quality, however the markets in other countries are very slim.

However, opportunities are created, like the SMG, when Pacific member countries meet and share ideas.
