The Waigani Committal Court today adjourned former Lands and Physical Planning Secretary, Romily Kila Pat’s application to dismiss the case raised against him.
This follows Kila Pat’s previous case in relation to misappropriation and conspiracy charges.
It is alleged that on September 3, 2015 Kila Pat misappropriated a sum of over K200,000 of public funds from the Department of Lands and Physical Planning.
The court heard that on September 14, 2015 Kila Pat conspired with two senior officers from the department to withdraw the money from the department’s Land Reform Program Trust Account.
The money was later paid as workshop bills to Bola Motors.
Kila Pat was arrested and charged under section 16(2) of the Public Finance Management Act for one count of conspiracy and misappropriation.
Senior Magistrate Cosmas Bidar, after cross-examining the affidavits presented by the police prosecutor and Kila Pat’s defence counsel, adjourned the case to April 19.
