Team PNG’s Chef de Mission, Richard Kassman, has assured the country that the team’s preparations are well on track.
Most teams and athletes are now in the final stages of preparation.
“Preparing a team for home games of this magnitude is a mammoth task and we know the national federations, closely linked to our athletes and the public in general will all contribute to ensuring our athletes are as ready as possible to take on the rest of the Pacific,” said Kassman.
Overseas training camps, National Championships and overseas tours will wrap-up the final selections.
National Sports bodies are also required to prepare and deliver their final team selections to the Justification Committee at the end of this month before announcing their team-select in March.
Although expectations of performing on home-soil are tremendous, Kassman and his team are confident that our athletes are on track.
Kassman also stated that Team PNG’s management structure and operations is focused on better equipping our athletes and elevating their preparations for the Games and beyond.
While construction of venues has been challenging for team sports, alternative venues have been secured to allow team preparations to continue.
