The Attorney General and Justice Department yesterday, officially announcedthe renewal of Dr Lawrence Kalinoe’s contract as Secretary for anther four years.
This was confirmed by Minister for Justice and Attorney General, Kerenga Kua, in a press conference in Port Moresby.
The interesting feature of Mr Kalinoe’s contract renewal is that it wasn’t done throughthe process of public tender.
This is a result ofthe collective approval from all parties involved in his reinstatementoincludingthe Public Services Commission, and Cabinet.
Dr Kalinoe expressed his gratitude, but also stressed that many challenges lie ahead.
All parties involved in his reinstatement agreed that Dr Kalinoe maintain his position because of his outstanding performance and competency.
This may possibly bethe first of its kind in PNG Government history, but Mr. Kua explained that it was perfectly legal.
He also urged all public servants to emulate Dr Kalinoe.
Dr. Kalinoe has a wealth of experience as Secretary, currently working with Mr. Kua and previously working for past Attorney Generals.
