A sum of K18,000 cheque was presented today to the students of La Salle Technical College, Hohola, from the office of the Minister for Moresby North west and Minister for Health, Michael Malabag.
The cheque was presented to the La Salle Technical College students by a representative from the minister’s office, and witnessed by the school staff and students.
The cheque will cover school fees for 11 TVET students.
School Principal, Brother Anthony Swamy, during the small gathering, thanked minister Malabag for the investment in supporting the parents and the students. He urged students who are beneficiaries, to fully utilise the opportunity and make good use of this future investment.
Linda Tule, a parent of one of the student beneficiaries, said she is very thankful for the minister, in helping to pay the school fees, as school fee is a major challenge for many parents especially those who do not have formal jobs.
The minister shared with the school, that education is an important priority for the nation, and investing in one’s education is an important investment not only for him but for the students, parents and for the country as a whole.
Under the TVET program, the minister has by far, sponsored approximately 3,962 school drop outs, 38 teachers and 563 tertiary students from the Moresby North West electorate, and education infrastructural development including classrooms for some of the school’s in the electorate.
La Salle Technical College is one of those institutions who has benefited.
The cheque presented today will cover the full annual school fees for 11 students.
