Investigations Underway for Port Moresby’s Murder and Rape Case

Police are investigating the death of a man and the rape of a woman in Port Moresby.

Both are separate incidents but allegedly involved police personnel over the weekend. 

In the first incident, a man is dead after he was beaten by a group of men identified as police officers outside a night club at Gordons.

NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, Benjamin Turi, told media that two police officers have been arrested in relation to the killing.

Police are yet to establish the motive of the murder.

In the second incident, a woman in her late 20s is accusing Hohola police for sexually assaulting her after they failed to pay her money.

The incident occurred at the back of the station in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Hohola Police Station Commander, Benjamin Kua, confirmed this saying the matter was reported and is being dealt with by the Sexual Offences Squad.

Kua said the policemen who were on duty at the time of the incident have submitted statements and investigations are continuing.
