Intercity Cup Double-header in Port Moresby

By Skola Sengi – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

Port Moresby will see the first double-header in over a season at Murray Barracks this Sunday as the Rabaul Gurias take on the Stop N Shop Vipers; with Goroka Lahanis going up against the Gulf Isapeas.

The competition draws for the Intercity Cup were altered to accommodate the change in playing format, since the construction of Lloyd Robson Oval, last year. Resulting in both Port Moresby-based franchises, the Port Moresby Vipers and Gulf Isapeas, without a home ground venue in 2014.

PNG Defence Force personnel will be deployed to ensure security and crowd control throughout the day’s matches.

Murray Barracks has become the new home of both Port Moresby franchises.

After their toppling performance against competition favorites, Rabaul Gurias; Goroka Lahanis will maintain their defence, to keep the Isapeas at bay come Sunday in the first match of the double header.

With the array of experience in the Gurias line-up, they are sure to bounce back from the narrow loss against Lahanis last weekend, and take on the Vipers who are struggling to secure satisfying wins this season.

In round 8 this Sunday, it will be a top of the North-West pool clash in Mendi as the Muruks will take on the Simbu Lions.

While the Hagen Eagles and Enga Mioks go head-to-head in Hagen.

The proposed car park will be along Wards Drive with access to the entrance.
