The attempted assault on the EMTV News Crew by a policeman implicated in the condom eating saga case, was condemned by head of NCD command, Ben Turi yesterday.
The Metropolitan Superintendent said the accused officer, will be disciplined internally by his superiors.
Joshua is the male police officer accused of forcing a woman to chew and swallow three male condoms in an interview room on December 4, 2015.
This is thr second time, Yawijah has insulted media personnel.
Turi’s comment follows an attempted assault on an EMTV crew on September 5, 2016.
The assault occurred outside the Waigani Committal Court as the cameraman was filming Yawijah leaving the court room.
Yawijah, who allegedly forced a woman to swallow male condoms whist on duty last December, did not want his pictures to be taken and tried to remove the camera from the cameraman before verbally abusing him.
He later tried to throw a punch at the reporter. The matter has been reported to police.
Meanwhile Turi is happy with the committal court’s decision to commit Yawijah and co-accused Jacklyn Tanda to stand trial at a higher court.
