Mourning has now turned into dancing for locals living along the Nongori-Para Road in the Numbo Local Level Government area.
Over the last 50 years, road access has been rather difficult.
Words of thank you were expressed in songs and chants to the sitting MP, Richard Maru, appreciating the change that has happened in their community.
The Yangoru-Saussia District has heavily invested on priority sectors to ensure people partake in the economic activities for wealth and sustainability.
According to local MP, Richard Maru, more roads will be built in order to link villages to East Sepik’s main economic corridor.
Funds have been allocated for the construction of more trunk and feeder roads in the electorate. This is to improve one of the government’s key priority areas of transports infrastructure.
“We ensure that we connect people to economic activities,” he said.
Meanwhile, Maru challenged locals to take ownership of assets.
“If you look after government assets, expect more services,” he said.
