HIGH Performance Unit Manager, Cornelius Papau, says the first quarter of the year has been busy getting national athletes ready for this year’s Pacific Games in Samoa.
Services provided at the High-Performance Center to get athletes prepared include strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, education on nutrition and hydration, and other support services related to getting athletes ready for regional and international tournaments.
“We are one of the divisions in the PNG Sports Foundation that has been working tirelessly in the first quarter of the year, in preparation for the Pacific Games, and also other events during the year. So we have seen a lot of athletes and coaches, I think the long term preparation for them in coming to High Performance, and utilizing the services is very, very important for their peak performance, and for them to perform well during their events. Very important for our young leaders. Especially the athletes going for the Pacific Games in Samoa to understand the quality of leadership and what it really means.”
“In sporting terms, they will be leading a team to win gold for Papua New Guinea,” says Papau.
