The Western Kentucky Basketball team, the Hilltoppers, recently signed PNG international Basketballer, Marty Leahy for the 2016 and 17 seasons.
Marty Leahy represented Papua New Guinea during the 2015 Pacific Games, playing for the men’s basketball team.
His signing was announced this week by Coach, Richard Stansbury.
He was a member of the Under-20 Queensland Basketball squad and the Under-21 Ipswich Force team where he averaged 18, nine and four per game.
He was known during the Pacific Games as the 3 point specialist and was vice-captain of the team who finished fourth at the tournament.
Leahy is 18 years old, stands at 195cm tall and is a versatile forward, who currently resides in Brisbane, Australia. Hilltoppers Coach, Richard Stansbury says, he brings great experience, size and strength, and knows how to play the game.
Leahy will join the Hilltoppers later this year and is excited of his new school, team and city after his official visit last month.
