Henganofi districts forty years anniversary celebrations was small but significant.
The occasion was used by the district authority to give out relief supplies worth K500,000 to the El Niño affected areas.
On the 16th September, Henganofi MP and Police Minister, Robert Atiyafa personally supervised trucks loaded with half a million kina worth of supplies.
Minister Atiyafa has been part of the districts disaster relief assessment group.
“we have loaded about K250,000 worth of cargo, the other K250,000 worth will be loaded tomorrow to the district,” said Minister Atiyafa.
The district has been hit hard with food crops becoming scarce and creeks are drying up.
The Henganofi District Development Authority took out funds from essential projects to fund the relief assistance.
Minister Atiyafa said the move had to be done while waiting for the national governments help.
