Member for Komo-Magarima, Francis Potape, has thanked the national government for ensuring the Nogoli to Komo road upgrade and sealing project in the Hela province will go ahead.
Potape expressed his gratitude today following the contract signing for the K87 million joint venture project between Hides Gas Development Company and Shamrock Civil PNG.
He called the road project a “miracle”, being the first sealed road that will run through the area.
It was the first signing ceremony for 2016, at Government House this morning.
Minister for Works, Francis Awesa, said the 45km road from Nogoli to Komo would be the first sealed road in the area.
Potape thanked the government for funding this road project. Chairman of Hides Gas Development Company, Tuguyawini Libe Parindali, said the road saw one clause honoured in the LBBSA and UBSA Agreements.
Parindali said he expects the road project to be completed on time and within budget. The road project is expected to commence this month, and will take between 18 to 24 months to complete.
Potape also called on the Minister for Works and the government to commercialise the Komo Airport for more development and services to the area.
