Hekari Dominate Squad

By Jeremy Mogi – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

Flemming Serritslev, the head coach of the PNG senior football team, has announced a 25-man squad in training, with the bulk of the team coming from Hekari FC. The entire squad has been selected from the Telikom National Soccer League (NSL), and Serritslev is confident he has a good side.

The announcement by Serritslev should come as no surprise, considering the performances that Jerry Allen’s Hekari players have displayed throughout the season.

Defender Daniel Joe maintains his spot in the team, while Sammy Cambell makes a return after two years out of the national scene.

Serritslev said all players are selected from the NSL and since following the league match rounds, he has seen several very good players emerge from the competition.

He said during the FIFA window period in March the team will be having two friendly matches in Solomon Islands, followed by three matches in South Korea as part of their lead-up preparation.

With the months counting down to what will be the biggest clash of their lives, Serritslev has already putt up his plan to prepare his best them for the coming event.

The 25 players players have been called in for a three day camp in Port Morseby, which begins today and ends on Tuesday.

During the camp players will go through a technical/tactical session to bond and work together as a team.

The final preparation will be in Port Moresby a week before the event with the first match against New Caledonia on May 28.
