The annual Hebou Shield was launched a few days ago. This will see the best up-and-coming male cricketers in the country getting a chance to showcase their talent among some elite players in the national team.
Players have come from competitions including Lae, Alotau, Popondetta, and Port Moresby.
48 selected players will be competing in four teams under the guidance of their team captains who are also members of the Barramundis squad.
While this serves as a Talent identification platform for those outside of the national team, the national team will be using this as a preparation tournament towards the ICC T20 East Asia Pacific Qualifiers, in Fiji, in August.
The Hebou Shield tournament begins next Monday.
