The government has delivered on their pledge to reward those athletes who performed with distinction during the 2015 Pacific Games. Team PNG athletes who competed during the 2015 Pacific Games will now receive their incentives as promised by the PNG Government.
At a press conference today, Minister for Sports, Justin Tkatchenko, said the money has been handed over to the PNG Olympic Committee who will in turn pay the top performing athletes their incentives.
Athletes who won gold medals will receive K20,000; athletes who won silver medals K10,000, bronze medal K5,000 and all other participating athletes will receive K2,500.
The Pacific Games Authority and the Games Organising Committee over the next three months are winding down their operations, before they hand over the reins to the PNG Sports Foundation who will be responsible for the management of all games related assets.
