Gobe LO’s Question IDG Distribution

With the first LNG project gas shipment making its way to Japan, PDL 3 and 4 landowners of Southern Highlands are disappointed and concerned with the overdue 2012 Infrastructure Development Grants.

The landowners have accused the Southern Highlands Provincial Government for diverting these funds to non-listed Incorporated Landowner Groups.

They’re calling on the Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill and stakeholders to halt the 2014 funds.

The landowners say the distribution of 2011 IDG funds by the Southern Highlands Government to ILG’s is something they are disgusted with as the money is for infrastructure services in Erave and Samberigi District.

The landowners have sought a court injunction to block all cheques being cashed as some of K8.2 million is parked in a BSP trust account.

A National Court Order has requested the Southern Highlands Provincial Government to consent with landowners however landowners are still waiting for that to happen.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said the abuse of the IDG funds are known by the government and separate investigation will be done.
