Governor General Sir Michael Ogio also released his Easter message.
He said as we commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ this long Easter weekend, let us also reflect on the significance of this great sacrifice in each of our lives.
“Have we lost touch with our spirituality?” Sir Ogio asked while delivering his Easter message.
In this age of advanced technology and astounding breakthroughs, sadly, morally and spiritually, we are experiencing a breakdown.
Sir Ogio says the Bible does offer us hope.
He says, human race is experiencing rapid expansion as never seen before in history. Political, economic and social developments in our country are also undergoing rapid changes.
Sir Michael said the advancement of globalization and its effect, reminds us that as a nation we must be vigilant and shrewd when dealing with foreign interests who come under the guise of ‘investment’ to devour our people and our land of its resources.
He believes with a lot of development activities taking place and the predicted economic boom our nation is experiencing, it is easy to succumb to illicit activities, greed and dishonest dealings to benefit oneself.
With Papua New Guinea being a predominantly Christian country, Sir Ogio says we must look to God’s word, the Bible, to teach and guide us.
He says it is up to each and every one of us to make the necessary changes needed to transform our nation for the better.
