A rural health center urgently needs a labour ward to cater for the four to five mothers that depend on the centre to deliver their babies.
The health centre is one of the two health facilities that supports more than 20,000 people in the Gembogl district of Simbu province.
EM TV news was told that the Womatne Health Centre needs a labour ward and other health facilities to support nearly half of the population in the district.
The health centre further needs proper sterilising equipment, adequate medical supplies, staff and staff housing to properly assist the 300 plus people per day that travel to the center for their medical needs.
Martin Kawage is a local form the area who has decided to come out and expose the needs of his people. He told EM TV news that apart from the recent building of a new staff house by the local MP, the centre still needs new equipment to keep its operations in order to serve the people.
Mr Kawage said has result communicable diseases such as TB will soon plague the district and that is a very worrying trend.
