The athletes’ village which will be used to host all visiting athletes and officials is ready and waiting.
This was the comment made by village Operations Manager, Adelbert Gangai, during a short tour of the facilities by EM TV.
Spread out over ten uniquely designed blocks, the athletes’ village which will host all visiting athletes and officials.
Divided into two separate areas with a central court space between each block.
Three different types of buildings had been used in the design. Apart from the facilities provided, the venues will also cater for the volunteers assisting athletes.
Gangai also in his role as athlete services manager, has organised for a more linguistic approach.
These services will ensure a smoother running of the Games.
Gangai also boldly stating that for the three week period that the village will be used by the games competitors, the village will be the largest hotel in the city.
He was, however, more enthusiastic of the venues being used as an opportunity to showcase Papua New Guinea as a tourist destination, stating that he wanted visitors to come and see for themselves the country and hopefully, return again.
