Team PNG Grabs Four Medals at 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games

The Special Olympians arrived today at the Jacksons International from the World Games in Los Angeles with Four Medals.

Thompson Ninkama, Rosa Nege and Grace Dindilo each got Bronze while Judy Moi clinched a silver medal in Short Put.

This was something that came as a surprise to President Takale Tuna and his compatriots.

Silver medalist in the women’s Shot Put, Judy Moi, was excited to see her family upon arrival, she said she was pleased with her silver medal but will be hard at training to go back and clinch Gold.

Overwhelmed by the athletes’ performance at the games, Thompson Ninkama, who grabbed bronze in the 3000 metres, also said the same.

This is the first time that PNG athletes have taken part in such an event and with the outcome that they’ve produced, continuous support from the government and sponsors, are expected to continue.

A heartwarming welcome was displayed by the parents of the athletes at the Jacksons International airport, the parents play an important part in the lives of this athletes in terms of support and encouragement.

Now that they have returned they will be looking to continue their development programs in other provinces and discover more talent in the country.
