Eye Care Project Launched in Goroka

The Member for Goroka Bire Kimisopa has embarked on an eye care project to address the issues of eye problems affecting the people in his electorate.

Mr. Kimisopa has engaged a local eye specialist to conduct eye tests and so far the team has covered the rural population of Goroka District.

It was discovered that eye problems have caused many people to be unproductive in the community; an issue which the Member plans to address.

Seeing is believing and many people who heard about the eye care project came in numbers to be tested at Faniufa Primary School in Goroka.

Tony Drua is the local eye –care specialist and runs the Eye Care Centre in Goroka Town. He was tasked by the Mr. Kimisopa to conduct the eye tests in rural Goroka and then onto the urban centres. With a cash injection into the project, Mr Drua said the initiative is an impact project and as long as the project will be fully funded by the Office of the Member for Goroka, the eye care project will continue.

The second phase of the Eye care project will be carried out in Goroka Urban that will run from February to June this year.
