Daffodil Charity Golf: K215,000 Raised For Cancer Treatment

Patients from all over Papua New Guineago to Angau Hospital to get treatment for cervical cancerPNG women record amongstthe highest inthe world.

Cancer claims many lives in Papua New Guinea especially women who die of cervical cancer.  An average of 1,500 women die per year, this is amongstthe world’s highest.

 

ThPNG cancer Relief society has, for the past three years, done fundraising to supportthe Angau Cancer treatment facilities by stagingthe annul daffodil charity golf.

 

The Angau Cancer Treatment Centre needs urgent funding to support its operation of beingthe only facility catering for an estimated seven million population.

 

A representative ofthe society, Jein Brown Duffield says fundraising is done to getthe private sector to supportthe treatment ofthe illness.

 

“We have received immense support fromthe private cooperate sector and some government’sectors, she said.

“So far we have exceeded last year’s earning of K206, 000 this year we have already raised K215, 000.”
 

 Money raised will go to supportingthe treatment facilities at Angau that includesthe only radiology treatment center inthe country.
