Corruption drags service delivery: Zurenuoc

LLeadersmust display highest level of integrity if corruption is to be addressed successfully, says Chief Secretary Sir Manasupe Zurenuoc.

 

When openingtheIndependent Commission against Corruption consultation meeting in Port Moresby on Friday, Chief Secretary Sir Manasupe Zurenuoc said corruption isthe obstacle to service delivery.

Sir Manasupe advocated that ICAC is not a new conceptoanPNG’s situation is urgent for such commission to be established.

 

Vice Chancellor for the University of Papua New GuineaProfessor Albert Mellam voiced thatthe consultation process is importantoadding thatthe commission will play a fundamental role in PNG rsquo;s prosperity.

 

The one day event involved lLeadersfromthe public and private sector as well as interested public.

 

TheIndependent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) is an organization thatthe government has established to tackle corruption in PNG

 

Through an NEC decision,the National Government established ICAC.

They have begun public consultation onthe roles and responsibilities ofthe Commission.

 

A team of experts from various government departments and NGO’s will carry outthe public consultation.

 

Similar consultation meetings will be held in Rabaul, Mt Hagen and Lae.
