Climate Change Open Day stages next month

The Office of Climate Changend Development has taken it upon itself to educatethe younger citizens aboutthe effects of climate change.

 

Next month a climate change Open Daywill be staged atthe Sir John Guise stadium in Port Moresby and it will be centered on ‘changing mindsets’.

The Office of Climate Changend Development or OCCD has embarked on awareness onthe issues and effects of climate change.

 

OCCD organslied a 2-days workshop for Journalists to relaythe important aspects of climate change including adaptation and REDD+.

 

Executive Director of OCCD Varigini Badira saidthe way we do business now and engage in traditional ways will change inthe future because of climate change.

 

Supportingthe cause is Steamships Trading Company, who came on board with a K15, 000 Gold Sponsorship for the Climate Changepen Day

 

Steamships HSSE Manager, Peter Popena saidthe company believes that environmental education is one ofthe most effective ways to ensurethe principles of environmental sustainability are understood and adopted bythe Group andthe Community.

 

The Climate Changepen Dayaims to create awareness in informing and educating people about ‘Changingtheir Mindsetsrsquo; to living a sustainable lifestyle – linking this concept tothe message of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting a green and clean environment for everyone to enjoy.
