The China’s President’s arrival is expected to cement relations between Papua New Guinea and other Pacific nations.
Details of the Xi Jingping’s arrival are being kept under wraps, but tomorrow a tight program is expected which includes several bilateral meetings with Pacific Island Forum Leaders.
President Xi Jingping’s State visit is expected to create significant ripples in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific.
PNG Leaders have been pushing the line that the visit is of significant importance to China-PNG relations.
Civil Aviation Minister, Alfred Manase told EMTV News that Xi Jingping’s visit would indicate that the people of China are confident of Papua New Guinea.
For China, Papua New Guinea is perhaps the biggest prize in the Pacific.
China’s contribution to APEC meeting is also in the Billions of Kina, and is expected to rise with more projects in the Pacific.
The tussle control in the Pacific is expected to be interesting over the next two-days.
President Xi Jinping will also be having Bilateral meetings with leaders of Pacific Island States in Port Moresby.
