The Oumea bridge in Madang is under threat of collapsing, as a result of the continuous rains being experienced in Madang’s Usino-Bundi electorate.
At 5.00pm on Sunday afternoon, 29 March, the water level increased, causing the Assass river to overflow and destroy the temporary by pass.
Passengers are now stranded at Assass and Omea.
Meanwhile, work on the new Dumpu Bridge has commenced. Works officers are anticipating to complete the bridge before next Friday.
