The Papua New Guinea Barramundis will be leaving for Brisbane tomorrow to prepare for the ICC Global T20 Qualifier, the Intercontinental Cup, and the World Cricket League Championship.
PNG is 1 of 14 countries competing for 6 spots at the ICC World T20 in India, in 2016.
Other countries in their pool are Ireland, Hong Kong, Namibia, Jersey, the USA, and Nepal.
The Barramundis will also be taking part in the Intercontinental Cup which is the ICC’s premier first- class tournament.
PNG will be competing amongst 8 teams in the I-Cup over the next 3 years.
In a Press conference today, Coach Dipak Patel spoke on the boys preparations leading up to the tournaments.
Even though lack of training venues has been an issue for Cricket and many sporting codes, the boys are focused on the competition.
The Barramundis will also be taking part in the World Cricket League Championship. Top teams will qualify for the 2018 ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier.
PNG is one of eight teams competing in the World Cricket League Championship over the next 3 years.
First match is against Netherlands, followed by another away series against Nepal later this year.
