Elected President for the Autonomous Bougainville Government, Chief Dr John Momis, has spoken about Bougainville’s goals and ambitions in the next five years.
It was his first public speaking, since declared as president, following the conclusion of counting for the third Autonomous Bougainville Government General Election.
Chief Momis was speaking at the commissioning of the new elected members of the Bougainville House of Representatives.
Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Bougainville, Bernard Unabali, presided over the Holy Eucharistic Celebration at the Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Hahela Parish in Buka today.
Chief Momis said that he is determined to lead Bougainville in the next five years.
“Bougainville once again stands the threshold of another new era adhering to democratic values and principals,” Momis said.
Momis also spoke on Bougainville’s autonomous arrangements and said that in the PNG Constitution, no other province has the right to be fully autonomous or even become fully independent.
Chief Momis also acknowledged Bougainville’s donors and partners, for their contribution towards development in the autonomous region.
