Bail for Former NCD Top Cop in Abuse of Office Case to be reviewed

Deputy Chief Justice, Gibbs Salika, has deferred the allegations of misappropriation case against former National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent, Andy Bawa today.

Making the deferral, Justice Salika advised opposing counsel to file consensual orders before it can proceed in the National Court.

The former NCD Metropolitan Superintendent was arrested in March this year.

He was charged with two counts of stealing and abuse of office.

It was alleged that between August 4th and September 30th in 2015, Bawa stole over K80,000, money allocated for security operations for the 2015 Pacific Games.

On the second charge, Bawa was accused to have received allowance from a provincial administrator, but failed to account for that money.

That money was also allocated for the Pacific Games.

Meanwhile, the bail review will not be considered until the consensual orders are filed and endorsed by both counsels and signed by the court.

Bawa is out on a K1,000 police bail.
