Athletics PNG to Send Delegates to The Oceania Athletics Congress

Athletics PNG is sending three delegates to the Oceania Athletic Association Congress Meeting, this weekend at the Queensland and NSW border town of Tweed Heads.

Secretary, Philip Rehder and Development Officer, Monica Henao will accompany PNG Athletics President, Tony Green, to the bi-annual meeting of all members of the association.

The formal part of the meeting on Friday will include the usual business of reports and a new Council will be elected for a four year term. However the main interest over the weekend will be a marketing seminar attended by leading figures from the World of Athletics and from Oceania Sport.

IAAF President, Lamine Diack, will be present along with two of his Vice Presidents, Lord Sebastian Coe and Sergy Bubka, who will each deliver a presentation to the delegates.

There will also be presentations on the Pacific Games by Andrew Minogue and on the 2018 Commonwealth Games by Mark Peters, CEO of Gold Coast 2018.

Retired IAAF Council Member, Bill Bailey who successfully organised the delivery of the Athletics Competition at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, will do a presentation to delegates on competitions .

Other matters of interest to be discussed over the weekend include sub-regional competition and the role of the Oceania Foundation.
